Head of Data Commercialization
Our client is building the first programmable-bandwidth supernetwork - an infrastructure that transforms millions of users’ idle internet connections into real-time, multimodal data streams (text, video, audio) for AI systems and enterprise use cases. Every day, users become nodes in a decentralized network that leverages their bandwidth to fetch public web data at massive scale.
You’ll be the driving force behind the company’s early commercial success, owning the B2B demand pipeline from end to end as the first hire of the commercial department. You know how to turn raw technical potential into buyer-convincing use cases, and how to speak the language of AI teams and organizations that consume public web data at scale. You’ve closed deals before a product existed, helped define pricing from scratch, and know how to use your network to generate real traction and qualified deal flow.
You thrive in zero-to-one settings, operate with agility in startup ecosystems, and build commercial structures that scale, with a sharp focus on business impact. You're not just here to sell, you're here to shape a new paradigm shift in infrastructure, and step into leadership as the department grows.
You have:
- 5+ years in business development, go-to-market, or commercial roles within data, infra, or alt-data startups.
- A track record of closing complex B2B data deals, from discovery to signed LOIs, pilots, or early-stage contracts.
- Deep understanding of data buyer workflows across AI companies, alt-data providers, research firms, intel, hardware-native AI companies (e.g. robotics, IoT, edge AI), etc.
- The ability to translate ambiguous buyer needs into clear product specs, working closely with CTO & technical teams.
- Experience designing and testing pricing models, delivery formats, and commercial terms with measurable ROI.
- Hands-on familiarity with core GTM infrastructure: CRM, pipeline tracking, sales collateral, outbound tooling.
- A strong network in the AI and data space, including potential customers and future commercial hires.
- Bonus: exposure to residential IP networks, proxy companies, or DePIN players (e.g. Oxylabs, Bright Data, Packetstream, Grass), based in SF or NY.
Key Responsibilities
Pipeline Ownership & Deal Execution:
• Own the full commercial funnel, from outbound and discovery to structuring and signing deals.
• Lead conversations with data buyers and close signed LOIs, pilots, and early-stage contracts.
• Help to define and refine pricing strategies and commercial terms based on live market feedback and benchmarking.
• Leverage your existing network of data buyers, and ecosystem contacts to identify market needs, unlock early traction, and accelerate deal flow.
Product Feedback & Commercial Alignment:
• Help to translate buyer needs into actionable functional specs with the CTO and engineering team.
• Influence delivery format decisions (e.g: format, API, stream, export, dashboard) based on customer expectations.
• Be a stake holder in the prioritization of monetizable features with clear ROI to accelerate GTM readiness and contribute to shape the roadmap around validated demand.
B2B Demand Strategy & Segmentation:
• Define and refine ideal customer profiles (ICPs) across AI systems, alt-data providers, hardware-native AI companies (e.g. robotics, self-driving, edge AI, IoT), quant firms, intel platforms, and more.
• Map their workflows, pain points, and preferred data formats (raw, structured, streaming, batch).
• Build a clear view of use case categories to guide outreach and product prioritization.
Commercial Infrastructure & Playbook:
• Build the foundation: CRM, pipeline tracking, outbound flows, contract templates, pricing models.
• Create the first scalable GTM motion for closing and growing data buyers.
• Contribute to shaping internal sales materials and pitch narratives for buyers.
• Define future roles and help structure the B2B roadmap for scaling the commercial team and revenue engine.
• Leverage your existing network to attract top-tier talent for future commercial roles.
